Being gluten free at holiday parties can be a bummer sometimes, I often joke that I leave parties in order to go eat. Does anyone else have that same feeling? But that is the fun part about throwing your own party. You get to be in charge of the food! When planning my holiday party this year, I wanted to do something fun, somewhat easy, and the right balance of healthy and indulgent.
I have rounded up some of my favorite Among the Colors dip recipes for you to test out over the holidays. Whether you are throwing a cocktail party or need an appetizer for a big dinner, these dips are wonderful because almost all of them can be made a day in advance. The avocado hummus and pomegranate guacamole are the only ones I recommend making right before the party. The onion dip is best when made a day in advance.
I recently moved from my dreamy house that was perfect for entertaining large parties, (and many many parties did we throw) to a small, but cozy apartment. My new place doesn’t fit a 6 person dining table, as it is barely 1,000 square feet. But that isn’t going to stop me from hosting my friends for the holidays. So my theme is stand up cocktails and appetizers. Cocktails and wine will be served out of the kitchen, with a featured pre-batched rum cider, some whiskey for old fashioneds and plenty of wine. I am going to move my 4 person round dining table into the corner and use it to house the snacks. Lots of dips and some easy, festive paper plates and napkins. I mean, who needs fancy dinner party when you have rum cider and several flavors of dip? Am I right?
Wishing you and yours a fantastic holiday season.
