Wellness Challenge Week 6
Last week I contemplated balance and how do we find ways to slow down. It was good that I was thinking about these things, as life pushed me a little further down the path of imbalance. My sinus infection returned full swing, and it became evident that the issue was from the construction dust of my house. After being sick for two weeks, and there being alot more construction dust to come over the next month before the basement project gets towards the finishing phases, I was faced with a question to ask myself, "How do you find balance and wellness when the space you are in isn't available to provide that for you" And the answer I came to is, "Sometimes you can't. So you have to find that balance elsewhere." So with this wisdom, I decided that I needed to get out of the house for about a month until the dust has settled... literally. With New York Fashion Week on the horizon, next week was already taken care of, so it just left me searching for a place to call home after New York. And so after New York, I will head back to my roots in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina, to visit family, ground down, and retreat from the chaotic dust zone that is my house right now. Patience and flexiblity are imparitive to having the space to find balance. Although packing up my stuff and saying peace out to my beautiful garden and sunflowers that I have been carefully attending since the spring, and leaving my art studio and my friends behind, gives me anxiety, I know that the North Carolina mountains are where I need to be for awhile. And I am grateful to have a place to retreat.
