Wellness Challenge Week 4
This week proved to be a fork in the road of the challenge for me. I came down with an awful sinus infection this week which made me stop and listen to my body. Sickness tends to always be some sort of sign from our bodies telling us to take note and bring awareness inwards. This was just the case for me. I had a long list of things to do in preparation for a long weekend out of town, along with the fact that I had family in town. I was so excited to have my mom and grandmother visiting me, and was also a little overwhelmed with preparing to go out of town too, and my body was overwhelmed too. Part of this wellness challenge, is learning to listen to my body and what it needs. This week, my body needed rest. And there was nothing more wonderful than having my 93 year old grandmother pat on me while I took an afternoon nap on the couch during her visit. We detoured some of our plans so that our trip was more relaxed and I got plenty of sleep to recover. I found the colprit source of my infection, some nasty black mold growing in a clogged shower drain. Bleached and gone is the mold, and gone is my sinus infection... Thank goodness! I was able to fight off the infection naturally by rinsing my sinuses with saline and taking tons and tons of Vitamin C.
I finished the week off by traveling to upstate New York for a music festival, Phish's Magnaball. Showing up to a music festival with a sinus infection is obviously less than ideal, but I was able to find ways to create wellness and balance throughout the weekend as they had a fresh juice and smoothie food truck, a kombucha stand, and an amazing vegan gluten free food company serving food. After one night of sleeping in the fresh mountain air, I felt so much better and was totally healed by the weekend. Not to mention I averaged 11 miles a day walking and dancing around the festival. Below is my week recap.
Tuesday- YogaPod Lodo. Always an amazing class with my dear Clare Anderson.
Wednesday- Woke up with a sinus infection. Rested. Took a nap mid morning. Talk about wellness goals! So lovely to be able to honor my body as my energy was super low from the sinus infection.
Thursday- Rested. Tons of Vitamin C. And more rest.
Friday- Walked/danced 10 miles.
Saturday- Walked/danced 12 miles. Felt back to normal. Take that, sinus infection!
