Wellness Challenge Week 2
The challenge is going well so far. It's great to have motivation to keep moving and a to find focus in putting wellness and self care as a priority in the week. As a creative, I tend to get overwhelmed and put all creative projects before my exercise of the day or my need to take time out for myself. The biggest part of this wellness challenge for me is find ways to balance it all, and giving myself permission to put myself before my art, my work, my social responsibilities and really give myself an invitation to check in with how I feel daily and what my body needs.
This week for self care, I went to my cranial sacral doctor in the Boulder mountains for a wonderful healing session. I also took a night to lay around and watch the entire last week ever of Jon Stewart on the Daily Show. I can't believe the show is over. I feel like I have watched it almost all of his 16 years on the air. I guess it's time for Jon to take some self care as well. I am sure he will emerge with some amazing creative insights.
Sunday- Fierce45. Morning bike ride to and from Pilates followed by a delicious Bloody Mary and brunch. A brunch I definitely earned after all the squats we did in that class!
Monday- Pure Barre. Morning barre with a girlfriend. We went to the Denver Highlands studio. It was a nice break from all the Pilates I have been doing. And so nice to get a stretch.
Tuesday- day off. This was an amazing day off as I realized I had just worked out 8 days in a row! A total record for me. The hot tub felt really good that is for sure.
Thursday- day off. I was totally trying to make it to yoga but was just having one of those days where I couldn't seem to make it happen. This was a day when the "overwhelm" of everything to do kept me away from working out. I am still new at this, so I tried to not be hard on myself and indulge in a lovely, relaxing evening after an action-packed day.
Friday- Fierce45. This evening we had our first Fermentation Workshop with Haiku Foods. I will be doing a profile with Haiku Foods later this week with all the details of our first Among the Colors and Haiku Foods Fermentation Workshop. We will definitely be doing another workshop this fall, so stay tuned.
Saturday- Fierce45. Holy inner thighs I could barely walk after these two classes. I spent the evening soaking in the sun in our backyard and we grilled out hot dogs from our local butcher alongside zucchini and squash gratin from the garden.
