I am excited to share this month’s Inspired Women profile with you on New York-based jewelry designer Pamela Love. I was first introduced to Love’s stunning jewelry a few years ago in Denver at the fashion boutique Goldyn. I instantly fell in love with these simple, clean designs that told a story. A story I wanted to get to know. To be a part of.

I love it when an artist uses their materials as part of the dialogue of what the work is about. Pamela Love is one of those artists. Love’s use of semi-precious stones as well as metals come together to tell a story of universality, self-empowerment and fierceness. Her latest collection includes sculptural rings and orbit-inspired satellite earrings. Her signature arrowhead rings feature cuts of stone with an exposed roughness. I am the lucky owner of a white jasper arrowhead ring and I wear it all the time.

If you are in the Denver area, you have a rare opportunity to meet Pamela in person tomorrow, May 4th, at a Trunk Show at Goldyn boutique. Shoppers who spend $300 will also receive a copy of her new book Muses & Manifestations. Trunk Show is 4pm-7pm.

Inspired Women- Pamela Love

Tell me about your background, both professionally and personally.

I was born in Brooklyn, grew up in Florida. I always made jewelry from an early age, but never realized that it could become my actual profession. I somehow ended up going to film school at NYU. Upon graduating, I never wanted to work on a film again – it just wasn’t for me. That’s when I started painting and began making jewelry again. At some point, I was very lucky to share my jewelry with a few magazine editors who began pulling my pieces for shoots. Soon after, I began selling to small stores and boutiques and opened an office in Chelsea where I started to build a production facility. This is where we continue to do all of our development and much of our production. I’m very lucky to have such an amazing team of talented and dedicated people who helped me turn my dreams into reality.

What inspired you to launch your business?

The desire to create jobs and keep craft alive.

What inspires you on a daily basis?

What motivates you professionally?

My team and my family.

Among the Colors is very food and cooking oriented, can you share one of your favorite healthy recipes to cook?

Spiralized zucchini salad with avocado and edamame.

1 medium zucchini, ends trimmed off

                          1/2 lemon

                          1/2 tbsp olive oil

                          Kosher salt, to taste

                          Fresh black pepper, to taste

2 oz diced avocado (1/2 medium haas)

                          1/3 cup shelled cooked edamame

                          1 basil leaf, minced

                          1 tsp minced chive

Use a spiralizer or a mandolin fitted with a julienne blade and cut the zucchini into thin spaghetti-like strands. Trim the strands into bite size lengths, about 8 inches long and place it in a large work bowl. Drizzle the olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper and toss.

Dice the avocado into small pieces and add to the bowl along with the edamame, basil and chives. Serve right away and enjoy!
