Summer is here and her heat seems to be in full swing in Colorado and around the country.  I heard that it is going to be a record breaking hot summer basically around the whole planet. Yikes. Not a good sign as far as global warning goes and also got a good sign for the fact that I am not really a fan of anything over 90 degrees to begin with. But apparently above 90 degrees plus is what is going down this summer in Denver and in most cities.  I plan on keeping cool in style with this pair of high-waisted black shorts. Yes there is a theme going on in my summer wardrobe. Either give me short shorts like the one’s in this post or in last week’s post, or give me a light-weight flowy dress like my Current Elliot or my Lovers & Friends’ dress.

These shorts are light and breezy and I love the tassel detail.  I will definitely be throwing them on with a graphic band tee and sneakers for concerts, as well as dressing up for brunch with cute tops.  My favorite thing about these shorts is the front pleats that accompany the awesome tassels because it makes it feel like a skirt and can make most tops added to it to feel like a romper.  Both the top and shorts are from Denver’s Ily Iley.

How do you plan on beating the heat this summer?

May I recommend my current favorite salad, Roasted Asparagus & Avocado Salad.

I am headed up the mountains this afternoon to escape the heat, be in nature, lounge by the river and camp out with my hubby.  That is one thing that makes those of us lucky in Colorado, is that the mountains are normally 20 degrees less.. Hello 75 degree weather! Yes please.

Of course, if you live by a beach that ain’t bad either.

Let me know how you like to summer!
